for
POSTGRADUATE LEVEL PROGRAMS
in the
SINDHU CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

The Sindhu Central University is established by the Central Universities (Amendment) Act 2021 and the parliament has assented to the establishment of the University with the territorial jurisdiction of the UT of Ladakh. The University is fully funded and supported by the Govt. of India through the Ministry of Education.
Online Applications are invited from the eligible students for the following postgraduate level programs (full-time 2-years) at the Sindhu Central University.
(a) Master of Technology (M.Tech.) – Atmospheric & Climate Sciences
(b) Master of Technology (M.Tech.) – Energy Technology & Policy
(c) Master of Arts (M.A.) – Public Policy
The batch of students (20 in each program) will be selected for the university programmes. The first-year programme of study will be held at IIT Madras (programmes (a) and (c)), and IIT Kanpur (programmes (b)) campuses, at appropriate time transit campus of SCU at Khaltsi, Leh may also conduct classes.
1.0 Educational Qualifications for Admission to Prescribed PG Programs
(a) MTech Energy Technology and Policy
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or Technology in Materials, Chemical, Energy, Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentations or equivalent subject or M.Sc./M.S. in Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent subject with a minimum of 55% in aggregate (or) 5.5 or above CGPA (on a scale of 10). Students in the final year are also eligible to apply. However, at the time of admission, students shall have passed the above educational qualifications.
(b) MTech Atmospheric and Climate Sciences
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or Technology in Materials, Chemical, Energy, Mechanical, Production, Automobile, electrical, electronics, instrumentations, and other branches of engineering or similar discipline or M.Sc./M.S. in Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science(s), Atmospheric Science(s) or equivalent subject with a minimum of 55% in aggregate (or) 5.5 or above CGPA (on a scale of 10). Students in the final year are also eligible to apply. However, at the time of admission, students shall have passed the above educational qualifications.
(c) MA Public Policy
A candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. The candidate should have Mathematics as one of the subjects at the level of class XII.
2.0 General Eligibility for Admission and Reservation of Seats
The “specified minimum” marks/CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average), referred to in subsequent sections, implies a minimum of 55% marks/ 5.5 (on a 10-point scale) if it is not less than the minimum pass marks/ CGPA; otherwise, the “specified minimum” marks/CGPA implies the minimum pass marks/CGPA.
Applicants having qualifications equivalent to the ones stated above may also apply for admission to the appropriate Programme.
The total number of seats available for each of the Master’s programs is 20. The University shall have the flexibility to increase the number of seats based on the requirements and policy of the Ministry of Education.
Reservation of seats for various reserved categories shall be as prescribed as per the University rules and follow the Govt. of India notifications.
Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, OBC-NCL, EWS, and PWD will have the minimum cut-off marks for eligibility as per Gov rules.
3.0 Admission Procedure
The applicants must apply for admission on prescribed forms (online). Queries (if any) may be sent directly to the nominated contact person given in the advertisement.
All eligible applications will be reviewed based on the eligibility criteria mentioned in the advertisement. The selection process for M.Tech. will consider a valid score in any of the national-level qualifying examinations, like GATE, CUET (PG), etc. It may be noted that having qualified for any national examination with a valid score is desirable, but is not a mandatory requirement for application and selection for programmes of study in the University.
All shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview (on or off-line), and their performance in the interview shall also form the basis of the final selection.
A candidate belonging to the SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD/EWS category will be given relaxation in the qualifying marks in the admission process in accordance as per the Government regulations.
4.1 Admission process
The student will be admitted through an interview, the shortlisting would be done based on the above given criteria.
