- To promote sustainable socio-cultural and economic development for the trans-Himalayan region and develop a distinctive identity built on the university’s strengths, location, ethnicity and tradition.
- Growing network of trans-Himalayan universities/institutes within and outside of the UT of Ladakh region, aiming to promote regional & global collaboration in research & education for sustainable mountain futures and entering into potential collaborations for creating synergies and symbiotic relationships.
- To check migration of Ladakhi people to other States by providing livelihood through productive, employable & job-oriented courses and producing excellent human resource, innovative technologies and their dissemination for regional development.

- In line with MERU concept of “NEP 2020″ the university shall offer multidisciplinary programmes through academic collaborative arrangements with Ladakh State University and MoU with other Central Universities in the region.
